North Shore City Council's Draft
Playgrounds Network Plan – Consultation Document
North Shore City Council has prepared a draft Playgrounds Network Plan – Consultation
Document to guide the provision and management of Council owned playground facilities
for the North Shore.
NSCC recognises that public playgrounds are highly valued community facilities and
that they play an important role in contributing to the four well-beings of its
community. They provide a range of play opportunities for children as well as encourage
people, who would not normally interact, to gather in an informal setting. A number
of challenges and opportunities face North Shore City regarding the future provision
of playgrounds and to this end, the plan is seen as the key mechanism for developing
and upgrading playgrounds throughout the city to a standard that offers a diverse
range of play and recreational experiences. Through a set of actions, the plan provides
a blueprint for improving the existing playgrounds network as well as assisting
NSCC in its decision making regarding new playground provision.
The draft plan is available for public inspection during business hours at the Council’s
area offices (locations described below), at North Shore City libraries, or by downloading
from the Council’s website at
www.northshorecity.govt.nz Copies of the plan can also be obtained from
the undersigned.
